Joe Winn

Originally from South London, Joe Winn has always been passionate about education and helping others to learn.

After earning a BA (Hons) in Education from the University of Brighton, Joe completed his PGCE at Chichester University. He began his teaching career in the South of England, where he quickly established himself as a dynamic and innovative educator. In his early years, he was recognised for his commitment to developing student-centred teaching approaches which fostered high levels of engagement and achievement.

In 2019, seeking to broaden his horizons and embrace new challenges, Joe moved to the UAE and joined GEMS Founders School - Al Barsha. Over his five years at Founders, he assumed various leadership roles, including Head of Year and Assistant Head Teacher. In these roles, he was responsible for driving curriculum development, mentoring new teachers, and leading professional development initiatives. His contributions were instrumental in raising the quality of teaching and learning across the school. He also played a key role in implementing data-driven approaches to teaching and assessment, which significantly improved student outcomes and contributed to the school’s success.

In January 2024, Joe joined GEMS Wesgreen Primary School as the Assistant Head Teacher. In this role, he continued to draw on his extensive experience to support both students and staff. As Deputy Head of Primary his focus remains on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. He is committed to implementing effective teaching strategies, promoting collaborative learning and ensuring that the school’s culture remains one where everyone feels valued and motivated.

Throughout his career, Joe has developed a deep understanding of what makes a school truly exceptional. His experience encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, from improving data and assessment procedures to enhancing teaching standards and fostering a positive school culture. His leadership is characterised by a commitment to continuous improvement and a belief in the power of education to transform lives.

He is always available to support, inspire, and guide students, staff and parents, fostering a positive and collaborative learning environment.
