Maya Arun

Head of Year 11 and 12

I believe that stories are a ‘primary act of mind’; a basic way of processing information. Being a Secondary Physics teacher for the past 15 years, I have come to notice that the more I teach the more I realise that as a teacher. I am nothing but ‘my own reflection’ on experience, my anecdote. My journey in Wesgreen International School started in 2012. When I first arrived, it appeared as a mere building but soon earned the title of my second home. Like everyone, my first year in Wesgreen community was challenging, but I accepted those challenges and came out the other side successfully. The support rendered by my colleagues was really exceptional in those times. The school honoured me with the Special Mention Award in my first year. The days passed by and I literally enjoyed each and every moment of my school days. In 2017, I was promoted to Head of Year for Grades 11 and 12, and was entrusted with more responsibilities. This additional responsibility enriched my self-confidence and multi-tasking capabilities. The same year, I was selected as the Award Leader of the Duke of Edinburgh Award for Youngsters. Later, GEMS took over the leadership of the school and I started witnessing the positive growth of the school in a different dimension. As I continue teaching, I find my role so fulfilling and I relish the opportunities I have for continuing with my learning whilst helping those around me.
